Looking at the Societal Aspects of Climate

My research work can be split into two main strands.

I look at how climate discourse has emerged as an important societal phenomenon through resonances with wider events. Most notably, I have explored the relationship between climate discussions and the World Food Crisis of the 1970s.

I also investigate how the atmosphere has come to materially affect everyday lives through the use of climate and weather information in supply systems. For example, my PhD was on the use of weather information in the postwar UK electricity, gas, and water industries.
